What to Charge as a New UGC Creator
Pricing can vary creator to creator HEAVILY, so keep that in mind while you go through this post. Pricing is personal, and there are many reasons to stray from these recommendations. Use this post as a guideline, not absolute truth.
Single Video
The average cost of 1 piece of UGC content is currently $212, but some creators are able to charge a lot more due to their experience or expertise.
A beginner rate is typically around $125-200 per video + paid usage fees (if applicable). For the rest of this lesson, we will be using $150 as the sample “base rate”.
I typically include organic usage in my base rate as it makes it easier on me, but do whatever is easiest for you! This means that the brand can use it on their socials, but they can’t advertise/promote that post or video.
Bundle Deals
If you want to try to upsell the client, you can offer a bundle deal like below:
1 video - $150
3 videos - $425
5 videos - $700
10 videos - $1,250
Notice how $150 times 3 does not equal $425, it equals $450. This is because at each stage you’re going to offer a little bit more of a discount in order to convert the client to a larger package. Everyone loves a good deal!
Additional Hooks and CTAs (Call to Actions)
Additional hooks and CTAs usually go for $50 each as a new creator. So if the brand requests 1 video with 1 additional hook and 1 additional CTA, you would charge them $250 ($150 base rate + $50 × 2). This is also another great way to upsell your client!
Paid Usage
This can vary heavily, but as a baseline, you can charge 30% of your base rate per month of paid ad usage. So for example, if the brand wants to use the video in ads for 3 months, you can charge them $285 ($150 base rate + $45 (30% of $150) x 3).
Another suggestion floating around is to charge 30% of your base rate for 3 months of usage, or 45% of your base rate for 6 months of usage. I do think using your content in ads is worth more than this, but work with what you and the brand are comfortable with.
Raw Footage
Because of how valuable raw footage is to a brand, I wouldn’t give this up for less than 50-150% of your base rate. It’s so valuable because brands can rework and edit your content to make a ton of different variations of your content. So if the brand wants the raw footage from one video, you can charge them $300 total (including the edited video).
